The Third Annual Kristen Bower Golf Tournament
April 27, 2001

Dear Friend:

The second annual Kristen Bower Memorial Golf Tournament was held on April 28, 2000. Thanks to the 265 participants and countless other people that supported the tournament financially and with their time, the sum of $80,000.00 was raised for the Kristen Bower Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Southern Mississippi. Thanks to people like you, the tournament was a rousing success!

Plans are underway for the third annual Kristen Bower Memorial Golf Tournament, which will be held on Friday, April 27, 2001. Our family of companies - Clipper Petroleum, Circle M Food Shops, and Explorers Transport - will once again host the tournament. We have once again reserved the Chateau course and the Woodlands course at Chateau Élan. The format will be a Ft. Lauderdale style with four player teams. The entry fee will include a boxed lunch, a cart, green fees, range balls, prizes, dinner and awards.

All of the net proceeds from the tournament will go to the Kristen Bower Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Southern Mississippi. The scholarship fund was created after the tragic death of my granddaughter, Kristen, on September 13, 1997. At the time of her death, Kristen was a 17 year old high school senior who was planning on attending college at Southern Miss. Since she loved her dad dearly, and Golden Eagle football, she also planned on trying to be a cheerleader to support her dad's football team. In order to honor her and perpetuate her memory, the Kristen Bower Memorial Scholarship Fund was established. Each year a scholarship will be presented to a deserving Southern Miss Football player.

I have enclosed information for you on the tournament and ways you can participate in helping with Kristen's scholarship fund. Our family of companies would be deeply appreciative of any help that you can be in this effort.

The main purpose of this letter is to give you ample time to pencil this golf tournament on your calendar. Since April 27 is a Friday, it will be a good way to start off a long and enjoyable weekend. Should you be traveling and need overnight accommodations, Chateau Élan has a beautiful hotel as well as a distinguished winery. You may call (770) 932-0900 or 1-800-233-9463 to make hotel reservations. Should you desire to make it into a weekend trip, the new Mall of Georgia (with more then 100 stores) recently opened approximately ten miles south of Chateau Élan.

I look forward to seeing you at Chateau Élan on April 27. My son Jeff, his assistant coaches, other celebrities, and many old friends will be at the tournament. It will be a great time to renew friendships and reminisce about the "good old days". It will be a fun time - and for a great cause! I'll see you there.

Best regards,

Tom L. Bower, Sr.

All proceeds from this golf tournament will benefit the Kristen Bower Memorial Scholarship at the University of Southern Mississippi. Southern Miss head football coach Jeff Bower and his staff will be on hand for the golf tournament and the post tournament social/dinner to be held at Chateau Élan.
